Week St. Mary Bellringers |
The Bellringers have been busy ringing for
services and weddings and have hosted the
Tamar Valley Guild of Ringers Festival of
Ringing on 2nd May this year. The event
included a service in the church with Revd
Rob and a Tea in the Parish Hall which
boosted church and Tower Funds very nicely.
We are looking forward to ringing for a
total of 6 weddings so far in our church
this year. The fee for providing Ringers for
Weddings is £60. This includes the services
of 6 Ringers for half an hour before the
service, their presence and lusty singing
during the service (!) and celebration
ringing after the service.
Practice Night is Wednesday and for the
summer, we have put back our start time to
8pm to give everyone the chance to make the
best use of the summer evenings before
coming out to the church. From September we
will start at 7.30 again.
If ANYONE who is at least
5 tall, fit and healthy, would like to
learn to ring, please get in touch with
Lesley who will arrange for a taster session
for you and introduce you to the rest of the
team.
Learning to ring is a big commitment it is
true, but gives you a lifelong hobby and
skill and a wide circle of friends all over
the district and indeed the country. A
religious commitment is not necessary but
once you are ringable you may be asked to
attend services at which you are available
to ring.
Please get in touch if you are interested as
we are gradually getting more and more short
of new ringers to maintain this tradition in
our village. Call Lesley on 01288 341221 or
