January
– March 2008
| Welcome to our
first Coffeepots Newsletter! We will be producing this each quarter to
keep you informed of what’s going on, birthdays, events etc.
Thank you for all your support over the last year, we’ve got some
great activities planned for this year and look forward to seeing
everyone and receiving ongoing support. We always welcome new members so
if you know anyone who has children of pre-school age(s), spread the word!! We aim to provide a local group where in a safe
environment the children can play, socialise, be stimulated and
entertained with their carers
involvement. Also for mums,
dads etc coffeepots is a chance to mix with other parents and carers from
the immediate area.

The Shed Story:
As most of you are aware, we fundraised very successfully in the autumn to
raise money for a new shed, toys and equipment.
We raised over £300 which was a fantastic effort all round so well done! We have yet to erect the shed but fingers crossed it will be
up in February which will give us much needed storage space for more toys
and equipment.
On this note if anyone has or knows anyone that has any unwanted toys or
equipment that may be suitable, please let Rachel know.
We are particularly after things for younger babies, walkers, play
mats, bouncer/rocker chairs etc, and for toddlers ride-ons, puzzles,
books, dressing up gear, chairs etc. |

In
conjunction with
Bude Children’s Centre
we have some exciting events
coming up, with final dates yet to be confirmed.
• A
‘soft play’ session (similar to Tumble Tots) will be held in the
village on a Friday afternoon with subsequent sessions to be held either
fortnightly or monthly.
• Help with ‘cooking on a budget’ sessions will be held perhaps in
conjunction with our coffeepots sessions to get the children involved in
preparing the food (and eating it afterwards of course!)
• Regular ‘weigh-in’ sessions to be held during coffeepots with a
Health Visitor from Bude, a chance to have your child weighed and have a
chat with a professional about anything that may be troubling you in
connection with your child, or general advice.
• The more support we can give the Children’s Centre with these
initiatives through our attendance, the more we will be able to gain from
them throughout the year! We’ll put up posters with forthcoming dates on
in the Methodist Rooms and in WSM shop to keep you updated.
Coffeepots will run as normal
throughout February half term and Easter holidays.
• All older brothers
and sisters are more than welcome to come along to coffeepots during their
school holidays. Please bring along any games, activities that they may
enjoy if you want to.
• The ‘Pirate and Princess’ Party is being held in the first week of
the Easter holidays and we encourage older siblings, grandparents, dads
etc to all come and join in the fun! Fancy dress, come as a pirate
or a princess!! We’ll
be making tiaras, eye patches, parrots etc to complete the children’s
costumes as well as face painting, treasure chest lucky dip, apple bobbing
etc. Party food will be
served and Coffeepots will run from 10.30 – 12.30 on this day only to
allow time for lunch.
Ideas,
Help or Suggestions???
If
you have any of the above, please let us know, we welcome help in any form
and look forward to hearing your feedback to this newsletter and our plans
for 2008!
