Out of hours medical service for all practices in Cornwall is now provided by Kernow Urgent Care Services.  This operates between 6.30pm and 8am weekdays and 24 hrs weekends and Bank holidays.
As of April 1st 2006 the out of hours medical service for all practices in Cornwall is provided by Kernow Urgent Care Services, run by Serco Health.  This operates between 6.30pm and 8am weekdays and 24 hrs weekends and Bank holidays.  The doctors working for the service are a mixture of local GPs and other Doctors, with a few Nurse Practitioners working some shifts.

The main facilities are;
Primary Care Centres, most of which are based in Community Hospitals offering consultations by appointment.
A fleet of emergency cars fully fitted with medical and communication equipment and manned by fully trained drivers.
A communications centre staffed by experienced telephonists and doctors to deal with enquiries and "triage" (prioritise) requests for emergency help. All visit requests are discussed with a Doctor.
Emergency Dental Service on the Truro site at certain times. (This is not a Kernow Urgent Care service)
Good links with other support services.

Patients contacting the service out of hours will speak to a telephonist who will take details then offer an appointment at a Clinic, or if telephone advice or a visit is requested will arrange for the Doctor to phone back. Please note that all calls are recorded for audit and training purposes, and for your protection.
