Saturday 27th February 2010		• An enthusiastic crowd attened St. Mary's church for the "Big Clean" and the refreshments were well-received by all.
Friday 22nd January 2010	Q/A	• A lively crowd attened the Wine & Wisdom evening in the Parish Hall and your webmaster attended his first such event - and our team came third overall - not bad for the first time!
Sunday 10th January 2010		• After a couple of weeks of light snow showers, heavy frosts and icy roads in the village, it is again snowing heavily which will not help at all! It took nearly 2 weeks for the gritters to get here!
Thursday 24th December 2009		• It is with pleasure we announce the arrival of baby Nieve Booker, to Sue & Daniel Booker.
Thursday 24th December 2009		• It is with pleasure we announce the arrival of baby Robert Gribble. (Jeff & Monica Robert's grandson).
Thursday 24th December 2009		• The Nativity figures returned to the church during the Crib Service where the children re-enacted the Nativity scene to a full church, enjoying carols and prayers. Gifts were collected for the Women's Refuge in Truro and a collection was made for the Salvation Army.
Saturday 5th December 2009		• The 4th birthday of the Week St. Mary Community Web Site. Thank you everybody for making it such a success.
Wednesday 25th November 2009		• It is with deep regret we learn of the passing of Arthur 'Mac' McColl, our village policeman for several years. Our sympathies are extended to the family.
Sunday 8th November 2009		• A poppy wreath was laid at the War Memorial by Mrs Nora Jewell. The following service was held in the parish church.

Thursday 29th October 2009	WSM	• Despite our best efforts we regret to announce that Week St. Mary did not feature in any of the final positions of the Calor Village Of The Year Competition. The comments from the judges were positive and said that we should be proud of our entry. Thanks to everyone who attended and helped with the display for the judges - we did our best!
Tuesday 6th October 2009	WSM	• The Western Region judges of Calor's Cornwall Village of the Year visited the village and after a brief greeting and introduction from Tricia Kabler and Linda Cobbledick watched a brief Visual show in the chapel before visiting the Parish Hall and Playing Field. Thursday 1st October 2009		• It is with pleasure we announce the arrival of baby Isobel Martin.
Wednesday 23rd September 2009		• A good crowd attended the Parish Hall for the Community Harvest Service and Auction. Fun and games kept the children entertained. Funds were for the "Send a cow" project.
Monday 21st September 2009		• Monday morning, Revd Dr Peter Waddell joined Revd Rob Dickenson at the hunt meet, in The Square - Peter's first such meet. Monday evening saw a good crowd attend the Harvest Service.
Sunday 20th September 2009		• Sunday evening, in St. Mary's church, saw an attentive crowd attend the Festal Evensong Service at which the Revd Dr Peter Waddell spoke about his first visit to the village. Peter is Chaplain to Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, the patrons of St. Mary's Church.
Saturday 19th September 2009		• The weather stayed kind for the annual Revel celebrations, with plenty of sunshine and a light breeze. A good crowd attended to enjoy the crowning of the new Revel Queen, conducted by Revd, Rob, and various sideshows and main-ring activities. Afternoon tea was served in the Parish Hall and the evening entertainment was provided by 'chariot racing' and a barbeque. For a report, click HERE.
Friday 17th July 2009	WSM	• The judges of Calor's Cornwall Village of the Year visited the village and viewed a display in the Parish Hall where several stands portrayed village clubs and activities in an attempt to demonstrate the cohesive unity of Week St Mary. Sunday 14th June 2009		• Bishop Tim, in the company of Revd Rob, attended the fund-raising 'Pimms In The Park' where a small crowd enjoyed music from Bude Metric Band, in brilliant sunshine, whilst enjoying Strawberries & Cream, helping to raise funds for the church.

Wednesday 24th December 2008		• A capacity crowd attend Week St. Mary church for the Crib Service, with a real-life 'baby Jesus' in the Nativity scene. A large collection of gifts for the homeless mothers and children was collected for delivery by Christmas morning.
Sunday 21st December 2008		• David & Jean Martin celebrated their ruby wedding (17th December) by renewing their vows in Week St. Mary Church, officiated by Rev Rob, in the company of family and friends.

Sunday 14th December 2008		• A very successful and well supported Christingle service, held café style, took place in the Parish Hall and attracted a large number of young families, raising £50.67 for the Children’s Society. Some photographs are viewable in the 'Picture Gallery'.

Wednesday 1st October 2008		• The Week St. Mary Community Harvest raised sufficient funds for a complete Shelterbox (No. 29450) which was dispatched by air to Haiti to help thousands who had been displaced by a series of hurricanes. There were also contributions made towards two further Shelterboxes (No. 33397 & 33398). The total contribution made to Shelterbox was: £610.00

Sunday 15th June 2008		• At St. Winwaloe Church, Poundstock, a full church celebrated with prayer the past three years ministry of Rev Gavin Douglas. Following the service refreshments were enjoyed by all in the nearby ancient Gildhouse. Several gifts were bestowed on Gavin and Alison to remind them of their contribution to the Week St. Mary Circle of Parishes.
Sunday 8th June 2008		• Congratulations to Father Rob Yeomans who celebrated the 40th anniversary of his Ordination into the Ministry.
Sunday 8th June 2008		• An appreciative crowd enjoyed the musical entertainment provided by Mousehole Male Voice Choir with Jenna & Morwenna providing duets of modern songs. Funds raised to go to the Robert Johns Leukaemia Fund.
Sunday 1st June 2008		• A successful "Brides Revisited" display took place in the parish church, ending with a well-attended "Songs of Praise" hosted by Raymond Shaddick (the 'Boy from Bude'), raising in excess of £1,200 to effect repairs on the ancient priests Vestry Door.

Tuesday 1st January 2008		• It is with deep regret we learn of the passing of Georgia Ann Paige Cock, born at Bristol on December 28th 2007 and who died peacefully at Bristol Hospital on January 1st, aged just 4 days. Georgia was a daughter to Kyla and Dan Cock and granddaughter to Keith and Lesley Horrell of Week St. Mary. Our sympathies are extended to all the families.

Sunday 26th August 2007		• Glorious weather helped the attendance of visitors to the village for both the Scarecrow Festival and the Craft Fair. A good crowd attended the open-air 'Songs of Praise' on the village green when the following choice of hymns were sung: (1) Be still, for the presence of the Lord; (2) Angel voices, ever singing, round Thy throne of light; (3) Love divine, all loves excelling; (4) I, the Lord of sea and sky; (5) Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart; (6) Thine is the glory, risen, conqu'ring Son; (7) From heaven you came, helpless babe; (8) Lord the light of Your love is shining (Shine, Jesus shine); (9) What a friend we have in Jesus; (10) The day Thou gavest, Lord, is ended.

Thursday 19th July 2007		• A coffee morning held at Wyke house by kind permission of Roy & Linda Cobbledick raised the wonderful total of £346.15. The money was given to "The Friends of Week St Mary Church and Churchyard Fund"
Wednesday 18th July 2007		• The weather was kind to the WI as after all the rain of late, the sun shone for the WI's annual BBQ, held at Tudor house by kind permission of Stephen & Micheline Smith.

Wednesday 24th January 2007		• This week has seen the first residents moving into their houses on the new "Ashbury Grove" estate.
Friday 19th January 2007		• Several spring flowers are appearing - far too early though! There are numerous daffodils out at Wax Hill and so many primroses; they are almost beating the snowdrops.
Tuesday 26th December 2006		• A charity football match took place between the Veterans and The Ladies. The Ladies were unlucky not to draw, losing 5 - 4 to the Veterans.

Sunday 24th December 2006		• Whilst travelling to Week St. Mary Crib Service, coming up Wax Hill, a huge stag walked out from the hedgerow, stood in the road and looked at us, then as I braked, it turned and walked calmly back into the woods... what a magnificent animal with huge antlers.

Sunday 5th November 2006		• Celebrating the visit of the Archdeacon of Umzimvubu (South Africa) the Venerable Vuyani Buso and his wife Phyllis to Week St. Mary church for All Saints Sunday Songs of Praise.

Sunday 1st October 2006		• The Robert Johns Leukaemia Fund held a charity fund raising concert at St. Mary's Church with the Mousehole Male Voice Choir as the main attraction. The evening's event was well attended by people of all ages and the musical variations ensured that everyone heard something of their favourite type of music. At various intervals throughout the evening, soloist Tricia Moore, from Plymouth, sang a variety of songs to her own accompaniment on guitar and a lute. The programme included such wonderful pieces as "By The Light Of The Silvery Moon", "You Raise Me Up" and a superb rendition of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". Our congratulations to Bob Johns for organising a great evening.
Saturday 16th September 2006		• A full day of events celebrating Revel was held both in the playing field and later in The Square with singing and Sumo wrestling.
Monday 11th September 2006		• It is with pleasure we announce the arrival of baby Connor Pugh.
Sunday 27th August 2006		• Sunday 27th August, despite the gloomy beginning, turned out to be a glorious warm summers day culminating at 6pm, when a crowd of some 50 in number congregated on the village green for a 'Songs of Praise' style service, conducted by Rev Rob Dickenson. The Service consisted of 10 popular hymns, a reading and prayers. Rev Rob preceded each hymn with brief details of its origin. John Hopkinson accompanied the singing on an electronic organ.
Thursday 24th August 2006		• BBC TV cameras paid a visit to the village to interview Lesley Booker and film some scarecrows featuring in the annual Scarecrow Festival.
Sunday 13th August 2006		• Fun Day for the Robert Johns Leukaemia Fund raised in excess of £4,850 for the charity.
Saturday 5th August 2006		• A Promise Auction & BBQ at the Rectory raising funds for the Church Re-wiring Fund.
Sunday 30th July 2006		• A special service took place at the church of St. Mary the Virgin, Week St. Mary, on Sunday, July 30th, to celebrate and dedicate the Week St. Mary Circle of Parishes and Institution of its Rector, Revd Rob Dickenson, by Rt Revd William Ind (Lord Bishop of Truro). This service was to celebrate the union of eight parishes into the Week St. Mary Circle of Parishes; namely, Week St. Mary, Whitstone, Poundstock, Widemouth Bay, Treneglos, Warbstow and Crackington Haven. There was a large attendance with representatives from each parish. The organist was John Hopkinson and the church choir was in attendance. A presentation was made of framed commemorative pictures to the Bishop, Archdeacon and to churchwardens from each parish in the new benefice. Refreshments were served in the church.
Wednesday 12th July 2006		• Molly Colwill celebrated her 90th birthday and in the evening a special peal of 100 changes was rung by 6 of her relatives.
Sunday 9th July 2006		• The Revd Rob Dickinson, parish priest and Rural Dean, welcomed a large congregation at a service to celebrate the ordination of Gavin Allan Douglas to the priesthood, at the parish church of St. Mary the Virgin, Week St. Mary on Sunday 9th July 2006. Those present witnessed the ordination of Revd Gavin Douglas by Bishop Roy Screech of St. Germans. Representatives of Week St. Mary Methodist Church and all eight parishes in the Benefice were present in addition to many visiting clergy. The sermon was given by the Army Chaplain General the Revd David Wilkes OBE, QHC. The organist was John Hopkinson with renditions from the church choir and an aria sung by Tom Bates. The service was followed by a lunch in the Parish Hall.
Friday 7th July 2006		• Hazel Fishleigh celebrated her 80th birthday and her special peals were sounded in the evening by the local bellringers.
Sunday 11th June 2006		• Linda's cat 'Sam' has returned home after being missing for several days. According to the vet he has been fed and watered which suggests he has been kept shut in but managed to escape and return home, albeit with damage to his tail as someone has tried to shut a door on him to possibly stop him from escaping! If he had been starved then he could have been shut in somewhere by accident but all the signs point otherwise. If only Sam could talk!

Saturday 8th January 2006		• A full coach organised by Sue Booker on behalf of Week St Mary Sunday School, went to the Theatre Royal at Plymouth to see the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk, starring the Chuckle Brothers. A great time was had by all.

Saturday 17th December 2005		• Carol Singing Around The Christmas Tree : A fantastic £180 was raised for our local charity – the Robert Johns Leukaemia Fund (R.J.L.F.). Only a select few turned up, but those who came and supported the event, certainly made up for it by singing their hearts out! A good festive spirit was had by all. Freshly baked mince pies and hot mulled wine was enjoyed by the adults and hot chocolate and cookies went down well with the kids! A massive thank you to everyone who supported this worthwhile charity, particularly to Ray Pearce and the staff at Treetops, and Vic and Barbara at The Green Inn. Both venues provided us with wonderful spreads which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Thank you. • John Hopkinson completed a 4-hour non-stop sponsored marathon playing the Church organ.
